Stability
Permalink to "Stability"Bolt follows semantic versioning (semver) practices. This means consumers should not encounter breaking changes (ie: changes to existing APIs) when upgrading within the same major version.
Upgrading to a new major version, on the other hand, will likely require some changes on the part of the consuming application. Bolt endeavors to keep breaking changes to a minimum, and such changes are always weighed against the value they provide in terms of quality and efficiency to the consumer.
Bolt provides detailed instructions in the form of migration guides for each each major version upgrade.
If an application has modified Bolt's default styles or behavior, upgrading may require additional effort. Modifications outside of Bolt's documented APIs should always be considered "at your own risk".
For more information about upgrades, release cadence, and versioning, see the releases section of Bolt's support policy.
Stability information for each individual component can be found on the component status page.
