Bolt offers developers a number of different installation options to quickly get started. Existing users of Bolt may wish to learn more about upgrades and stability.

Bolt is built on technologies that enable centralization and reusability. Design tokens are name/value pairs of the visual design attributes that form the foundation of our design system. Web Components provide encapsulated delivery of standardized appearance and behavior for common screen elements. Some of Bolt's components are also available as basic HTML and CSS patterns, providing additional flexibility but requiring a more hands-on approach to implementation.

AI-powered coding assistants like GitHub Copilot can significantly accelerate development when they understand your project's patterns and conventions. We've created agentic instructions that provide AI assistants with comprehensive context about Bolt's architecture, component structure, testing patterns, and coding conventions. These instructions help ensure AI-generated code follows Bolt's established practices and integrates seamlessly with the design system.

Bolt strives to provide accessible markup that will serve as an accessible foundation for your application. However, it will be up to individual teams to ensure applications adhere to Nationwide's accessibility standards. A good start is following our three step process for accessibility testing.
