Bolt's future theme provides early access to component redesigns and other changes that would not normally be released outside of a major version.

Future theme styles become the default appearance upon the next major release.

Minor releases may include changes to future theme appearance.

As design details are ironed out, future theme appearances may change with subsequent minor releases.

However, Bolt provides the same level of support for future-themed components as its default ones. While future appearances may be subject to change, they are held to the same standards as existing styles and should not cause compatibility issues.

The following changes are present in Bolt's future theme:

The bolt-theme--future utility class should be applied on the parent html element, at the same level as the bolt-typography class.

If necessary, bolt-theme--future can be applied to a different container with a more limited scope. However, for visual consistency, we recommend using the same theme for all content on a page, rather than applying it to isolated sections.
